As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I view supervision as a deeply collaborative and relational process. My goal is to create a supportive, reflective, and empowering environment where clinicians can grow in confidence, clinical skill, and self-awareness. Supervision about developing competency and equally important ~ cultivating authenticity, curiosity, and a grounded professional identity.
I approach supervision through a systemic lens, understanding that the supervisory relationship itself mirrors many of the same dynamics that occur in therapy. I strive to build a genuine connection with each supervisee ~ one that allows for openness, trust, and mutual respect. I see our work together as a partnership where curiosity, humor, and compassion are welcome. Supervision is a space to explore not only clinical work but also the relational patterns that shape how we show up as therapists.
I tailor my supervision to meet each clinician where they are in their professional journey. Early-career therapists may benefit from more structure, modeling, and guidance, while advanced associates often need space for deeper reflection and autonomy. My goal is to provide both support and challenge ~ to help supervisees grow without feeling overwhelmed. Together, we set goals that evolve as confidence and competence deepen.
While my own foundation is rooted in systemic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed approaches, I encourage supervisees to explore and integrate their own theoretical frameworks. I value critical thinking and creativity, emphasizing the importance of flexibility and responsiveness in therapy. Supervision sessions often include case conceptualization, exploration of interventions, and discussion of how theory informs practice in real-world settings.
Supervision is a space for personal as well as professional reflection. I invite supervisees to explore their own emotional responses, family-of-origin influences, geography-of-origin, and cultural identities as they relate to their work. I believe self-awareness is essential to ethical and effective clinical practice. I model vulnerability and curiosity, creating a nonjudgmental environment where growth and authenticity can thrive.
Ethics and cultural humility are central to my approach. I emphasize clear boundaries, confidentiality, and client safety while encouraging ongoing reflection around power, privilege, and identity. I strive to create an inclusive, affirming supervision environment that honors diversity and supports each supervisee in providing culturally responsive care to their clients.
I believe supervision should feel empowering. I focus on identifying and amplifying each supervisee’s strengths while providing constructive, actionable feedback for areas of growth. I want supervisees to leave each session feeling both supported and inspired. My goal is to help clinicians build confidence in their voice, intuition, and clinical decision-making.
Supervision is a shared process. I provide clear expectations around structure, documentation, and evaluation, and I invite supervisees to take an active role in setting goals and identifying areas they wish to explore. I value transparency, open dialogue, and consistent communication. Together, we cultivate a learning environment that is safe, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
My hope is that supervision with me feels both grounding and energizing ~ a place where you can grow, take risks, and strengthen your identity as a therapist. I consider it an honor to walk alongside developing clinicians as they deepen their capacity to serve clients with integrity, empathy, and systemic awareness.
