Welcome! I’m Anjali, a licensed associate art therapist and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m committed to creating a safe and comfortable space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, and I strive to make the process as inviting as possible.
I believe in the power of art as a tool for self-expression, healing, and growth. Art therapy uses the creative process, artmaking, and self-expression alongside traditional talk therapy to help improve lives. For younger clients, art can be a particularly accessible way to express emotions when talking feels difficult. My priority is always to ensure my clients feel comfortable and supported. In addition to art therapy, I also tend to incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques. DBT focuses on developing mindfulness, stress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills. If learning grounding and breathing exercises to manage emotions and cultivate mindfulness resonates with you, I can guide you through those practices.
I strive to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in our session, and many of my past clients have shared that they felt comfortable and at ease working with me. I encourage you to make yourself at home in our shared space during our time together.
Imagine exploring watercolors and color theory to gain new insights into your anxiety or using Play-Doh to work through anger and behavioral challenges. Perhaps engaging in various crafts could help build self-esteem. In art therapy, everyone is an artist- no prior experience is necessary. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how art can support your journey.
