Accepting New Clients
Location: ECC Bellevue & Telehealth
It takes a great deal of courage and strength to recognize the need for and seek out help; I honor that. Clients are first and foremost unique individuals who have developed their own personal narratives, and I am committed to helping them discover how those stories are serving them. My goal is to do so with openness, with genuine curiosity, and without judgment.
Taking a collaborative, person-centered approach, I believe clients have within themselves all the tools they need to live the fullest of lives. Whether it feels true today, you, as the client, are the expert of your own life, even if you feel you have lost your way or are struggling to determine your true identity and place in the world. If you choose to invite me on your journey, I will encourage you in your strengths and assist in areas of challenge, celebrating—rather than abandoning—who you are and where you came from.
I approach therapy clients holistically, meaning that I consider all the influences that make up who they are in this moment—their families, belief systems, communities, culture, religious/spiritual background, and societal impacts. In addition to more traditional therapies, I also incorporate mind-body therapies, and draw upon life purpose, internal resources, core values, and community and spiritual connectedness. My job is “to hold space for people with a fierce tenderness and a warm tenacity” (David Drake).
Finally, my commitment to equity for all is deeply rooted in my own personal experience, as well as working in the areas of teaching, training, leadership, and advocacy for those whose voices may otherwise be silenced. For me, this means listening to all voices, encouraging difficult dialogue, being willing to be wrong, and understanding that unless I am part of the solution, I am complicit in the problem.
I look forward to working with you.
